John Kiess

     John Kiess was born on 3 December 1814 at Warrensville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Johann George Kiess and Dorothea Ulmer. John Kiess married Mary Marquardt, daughter of Nickolas Stephen Marquardt and Sophia Hartmeier.1 John Kiess died on 2 December 1875 at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 60 years, 11 months and 29 days.1 He was buried in the Anthony Baptist Church Cemetery, located in Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.

John Kiess, was born in 1814, near Warrensville, Lycoming County. He was the third son of Johann George Kiess, and remained on the homestead farm until reaching his majority. He afterwards located on the farm in Anthony Township purchased by his father, where he resided until his death, in 1875. Mr. Kiess married Mary daughter of Stephen Marquardt. Mrs Kiess survives and resides upon the homestead in Anthony Township. Politically Mr. Kiess was a Democrat. He was one of the original members of St. John's Evangelical church of Anthony Township, and gave liberally of his means towards the erection of the church building. He was a class leader in that society for many years.
