Leonard Kiess was born on 27 August 1812 at Warrensville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Johann George Kiess and Dorothea Ulmer. Leonard Kiess married Elizabeth Kiess, daughter of John Kiess and Elizabeth Seamiller. Leonard Kiess died on 21 June 1858 at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 45 years, 9 months and 25 days.1 He was buried in the Anthony Baptist Church Cemetery, located in Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
