     Solomon Kiess was born on 9 February 1845 at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of John Kiess and Mary Marquardt. Solomon Kiess married Lydia Waltz, daughter of Johannes Waltz and Maria Schiedt, circa 1881.2 Solomon Kiess died on 9 May 1923 at age 78 years and 3 months.2 He was buried in the Woodward Township Cemetery, located in Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
