     Samuel B. Shafer was born on 29 March 1849 at Blooming Grove, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Johann Frederick Schäfer and Elisabeth Heim. Samuel B. Shafer married Maria Heim, daughter of Jacob Heim and Regina Rachael Steiger, in 1872. Samuel B. Shafer died on 25 December 1923 at Ridgeway, Niagara County, Ontario Province, Canada, at age 74 years, 8 months and 26 days.1 He was buried in the Bertie Cemetery, located in Stevensville, Niagara County, Ontario Province, Canada.2
     He was Carpenter - Farmer.
