     Maria Heim was born on 26 September 1851 at Blooming Grove, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 She was the daughter of Jacob Heim and Regina Rachael Steiger. Maria Heim married Samuel B. Shafer, son of Johann Frederick Schäfer and Elisabeth Heim, in 1872. Maria Heim died on 15 December 1943 at Ridgeway, Niagara County, Ontario Province, Canada, at age 92 years, 2 months and 19 days. She was buried in the Bertie Cemetery, located in Stevensville, Niagara County, Ontario Province, Canada.2
