M, (21 October 1842 - 15 December 1921)
Lorenzo Dow Lovell was born on 21 October 1842 at Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Aquilla Lovell and Jane Martin. Lorenzo Dow Lovell married Mary Ann Wurster, daughter of Johann Adam Wurster and Anna Mary Rauser, in 1872. Lorenzo Dow Lovell died on 15 December 1921 at age 79 years, 1 month and 24 days. He was buried in the Woodward Township Cemetery, located in Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
Lorenzo Dow Lovell was also known as Jim to his family and friends. And yes, Jim doesn't fit with either Lorenzo or Dow, it is unknown why he was called Jim. He appeared on the census of 20 August 1860 in the household of Aquilla Lovell and Jane Martin at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Lorenzo Dow Lovell was a farmer. He and Mary Ann Wurster appeared on the census of 10 June 1880 at Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Lorenzo was the oldest son of a family of five and of course was the one on whom his father depended to help with the work until such time when his father could devote all his time to his home and family. Lorenzo proved to be a competent and dependable young man and in the spring of 1872 he took Mary Ann Wurster, daughter of Adam and Mary Wurster, for his bride. They set up house keeping in the original log cabin and he continued to farm and improve the land for his father. Lorenzo purchased the farm from his father, and moved into the big house with their young family and cared for Aquilla and Jane until their respective deaths. Lorenzo Dow Lovell appears in family portrait circa 1900.
