William Sylvester Updegraff was born in 1859.1 He was the son of George Updegraff and Deborah Jane Paulhamus. William Sylvester Updegraff married Annie E. Weaver, age 21, daughter of William Weaver and Elizabeth E. Wagner, on Tuesday, 29 September 1885 at Long Reach, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend Alexander Henry.1 William Sylvester Updegraff died on 20 March 1935 at age 76 years.1
He handed down his family Bible to his daughter Ruth. He was known for trying many different planting techniques and crop varieties. William also spent time with his son Clarence Ezra in Texas developing a fruit farm.
