Rachel Kiess was born on 19 June 1819 at Warrensville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 She was the daughter of Johann George Kiess and Dorothea Ulmer. Rachel Kiess married Stephen Nickolas Marquardt, son of Nickolas Stephen Marquardt and Sophia Hartmeier.2 Rachel Kiess died on 12 November 1884 at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 65 years, 4 months and 24 days.1 She was buried in the Anthony Baptist Church Cemetery, located in Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
