Sophia Kiess was born on 24 September 1831 at Warrensville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Johann George Kiess and Dorothea Ulmer. Sophia Kiess has also been reported to have been born 24 September 1821. She married, at age 21, Adam Finkbeiner, age 32, son of Christoph Finkbeiner and Catharina Günther, on Thursday, 30 December 1852 at Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Sophia Kiess died on 4 June 1884 at Blooming Grove, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 52 years, 8 months and 11 days. She was buried in the Blooming Grove Cemetery, located in Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
