William S. DeHaven

William S. DeHaven was born in 1812 at Somerset County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Daniel DeHaven and Roseanna Schmidt Smith. William S. DeHaven married Eleanor Harden circa 1832. William S. DeHaven died in 1891 at age 79 years.
He was a Union soldier during the Civil War having enlisted in the 2nd Maryland Potomac Home Brigade. He was enrolled on 18 September 1861 Company K commanded by Captain P. Petrie. His description was five feet five inches in height, black hair and dark eyes. He was discharged at Cumberland, Maryland on 31 October 1864. His two sons, Jesse and Dennis, were also in the Civil War. Dennis was in the same unit as his father while Jesse was in an Ohio unit.
