Daniel DeHaven

Daniel DeHaven was born on 29 October 1783 at Northampton County, Province of Pennsylvania, USA. He was the son of William DeHaven and Maria Magdelena Hirsch. Daniel DeHaven married Roseanna Schmidt Smith circa 1810. Daniel DeHaven died on 18 March 1863 at Somerset County, Pennsylvania, at age 79 years, 4 months and 18 days.
The first grist mill in Southampton Township was built by Jacob Korns where Wellersburg now is, about the year 1809. In the same building the first carding mill in the town was placed and put in operation by William S. and Daniel Dehaven in 1830.
The "History of Bedford and Somerset Counties" of 1906 says, "The first school in Larimer Township was taught at the White Oaks Church. Daniel Dehaven was said to have been the teacher."
He was a grist mill owner and a school teacher.
