Raymond Samuel Metzger was born on 3 December 1907 at Linden, Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3 He was the son of Jeremiah Matthew Metzger and Alice Catherine Hetner. Raymond Samuel Metzger first married Vida M. Kiess, daughter of Raymond S. Kiess and Bessie Pepperman, circa 1936.4 Raymond Samuel Metzger married a second time Louise Smith circa 1943. Raymond Samuel Metzger died on 25 November 1996 at Linden, Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 88 years, 11 months and 22 days.1,3 He was buried on 27 November 1996 in the State Road United Methodist Church Cemetery, located in Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
He was a farmer in 1940.1 He and Vida M. Kiess appeared on the census of 5 April 1940 at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. RAYMOND SAMUEL METZGER

Raymond Samuel Metzger was the last of the six sons to be born to Alice and Jeremiah Metzger on Mansion Farm. Raymond is the fourth generation to farm the land of Jacob Metzger. He is married to Louise Smith Metzger, who was a school teacher at the State Road one room school house. They have worked together to continue many of the traditions set forth by Alice and Jeremiah Metzger on Mansion Farm. Raymond and his family have been active members of the State Road Church were Raymond was Lay Leader for many years, and serves on the Cemetery Association like his fattier, and was an Anthony Township School Director for many years, also.
Fire destroyed the original barn, dairy herd, and machinery in September of 1954. With courage and strength from the Lord and help and encouragement from family, neighbors, and friends, Raymond and Louise Metzger rebuilt a new barn in the summer of 1991.
Raymond 's first son Jerry Ray, named after his grandfather Jeremiah, worked on the farm with his father until he joined the Air Force and served his country. Jerry now carries on another Metzger tradition, as he sells automobiles in Florida, where he lives. He has three children, Lorianne, Timothy Thomas Ray, and Ronald Curtis Metzger.
Carolyn Louise Metzger, daughter of Raymond and Louise is married to the Rev. Galen R. Menne, of Cogan Station, Pennsylvania. They live in Glenn Dale, Maryland with their children, Michele Janeen and Jeremy Christon. Carolyn graduated from the Uiversity of Maryland and like her mother, she is a school teacher.
Raymond and Louise have two sons Chris Allen and Mark Nell Metzger, who In 1981 reestablished the dairy business and continue to plow the land with the wise guidance of their father Raymond, and their own determination and hard work to continue the legacy of the Mansion Farm, now known as "Linden Hills Farm."
Chris A. Metzger is married to Carol Bechtel Metzger, and they have one daughter, Susan Louise. They live in a new house near the big oak tree where the original mail box of Jeremiah and Alice Metzger once was.
Mark N. Metzger attended the Williamsport Community College in Williamsport, and lives with his parents in the big white house every one still loves to visit.
Raymond and Louise are now retired and are enjoying watching their sixth grandchild, Susan growing up on the farm they love and worked so hard to continue.2
