     Joseph Kiess was born on 17 January 1908 at Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3 He was the son of Reuben Kiess and Emily Estella Cline. Joseph Kiess married, at age 21, Martha C. Ulmer, age 21, daughter of David Elmer Ulmer and Mabel G. Blair, on Tuesday, 19 February 1929.4 Joseph Kiess died on 5 October 1986 at Williamsport Hospital, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 78 years, 8 months and 18 days.1,2,3 He was buried on 8 October 1986 in the State Road United Methodist Church Cemetery, located in Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2,3
     He was a farmer.
