James B. Burson was born on 10 February 1842 at Jerseyville (later Shade), Athens County, Ohio.¹ He was the son of James C. Burson and Hannah Powell. James B. Burson married, at age 22, Mary Morrison Creamer, age 23, daughter of Joseph Creamer and Mary Ann Morrison, on Thursday, 17 November 1864 at Athens County, Ohio.¹ James B. Burson died on 20 January 1914 at age 71 years, 11 months and 10 days.¹ He was buried in the Burson Cemetery, located in Shade, Athens County, Ohio.¹
