Joseph Creamer1

     Joseph Creamer was born on 29 May 1805 at Somerset County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Samuel Creamer and Rebecca King.1 Joseph Creamer first married, at age 23, Mary Ann Morrison, age 16, daughter of Joseph Morrison and Sarah Tedrow, on Thursday, 16 April 1829 at Somerset County, Pennsylvania.1 Joseph Creamer married a second time, at age 53, Elizabeth Mitchell, age 36 on Thursday, 26 May 1859. Joseph Creamer married a third time, at age 60, Martha Avery Chaney on Thursday, 12 October 1865. Joseph Creamer died on 8 May 1877 at Jerseyville (later Shade), Athens County, Ohio, at age 71 years, 11 months and 9 days.1
     Joseph Creamer was 18 years old when he commenced to learn the tanner's trade at which he worked most of his life. When 23 he married Mary Morrison. Ten years later they moved to Lodi Township, Athens County, Ohio. He was active in local politics serving in most of the township offices to the satisfaction of his constituents. He was a liberal supporter of the Methodist Church and was instrumental in building the church at Jerseyville as well as the seminary. He became a widower at the age of 52 with the death of Mary on 28 November 1857.1 He became a widower at the age of 59 with the death of Elizabeth on 22 April 1865.
