Kathryn Grace Waltz was born on 5 June 1933.1,4 She was the daughter of Elmer Ellsworth Waltz and Josephine Casselberry Bennett.3,4,5 Kathryn Grace Waltz married David W. Short, son of George A. Short, circa 1955 at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Bottle Run, Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend Daniel Simpson Robinson and Reverend Clyde E. Rickabaugh.3,2,6 Kathryn Grace Waltz died on 17 September 1985 at her home, 213 Alberon Drive, Park Ridge, New Jersey, at age 52 years, 3 months and 12 days.1,4 She was buried on 21 September 1985 in the Wildwood Cemetery, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Joseph C. Simpson.4
Kathryn Grace Waltz graduated in 1952 from Williamsport Area High School, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3 The marriage announcement for Kathryn Grace Waltz and David W. Short was published circa 1955 in the local paper, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. This announcement stated:
Miss Kathryn G. Waltz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer E. Waltz, of Williamsport RD 2, will become the bride of David W. Short, son of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Short, of Chagrin Falls, O.
The ceremony will take place Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in the Bethel Presbyterian Church, Bottle Run Road. The Rev. Daniel S. Robinson and the Rev. Clyde E. Rickabaugh will solemnize the double-ring ceremony. Wedding music will be provided by William H. Wurster, who also will accompany the soloist, Miss Marian Law.
The bride will be given in marriage by her father. As her attendants, Miss Waltz has chosen her cousin, Miss Jean L. Bennett, as maid of honor, and her sister, Miss Mary L. Waltz, as bridesmaid. Clair E. Waltz, brother of the bride, will serve as best man. Ushers will be Harold E. Waltz, brother of the bride and Harold A. Short, brother of the prospective groom.
A reception will follow the ceremony at the Old Lycoming Township Volunteer Fire Hall. Miss Waltz was graduated from the Williamsport High School class of 1952 and was employed in the office of the Williamsport Wholesale Grocery Company. Mr. Short was graduated from the Chagrin Falls High School class of 1951 and has recently returned after serving with the Army in Korea.3 As of 1962, Kathryn Grace Waltz and David W. Short lived in Chagrin Falls, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.3,5 Her obituary was published sometime in September 1985 Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

She was a charter member and original treasurer of the National Railway Historical Society and was a chapter trustee. In 1983, she received that organization's member of the year award. Mrs. Short also was treasurer of the Park Ridge Railroad Station Restoration Association, and a member of the National Association of Railroad Passengers. She was a member of the auxiliary of Marz-Allen Tri-Borough Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8946, Woodcliff Lake, N. J., and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Surviving, besides her husband, are her parents, of Williamsport RD 5; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Sue Dibert, of Eatontown, N. J., and Miss Jennifer K., at home; two brothers, Clair E. Waltz, of Cogan Station, and Harold E. Waltz, this city; two sisters, Miss Mary L. Waltz, also of this city, and Mrs. Beverly M. Fishel, of Williamsport RD 5.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bethel United Presbyterian Church, Bottle Run Road, with the Rev. Joseph C. Simpson, church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. Friends may call at Sanders', 821 Diamond Street, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. The family will provide the flowers.4
