William N. Pence was born on 11 March 1839 at Laporte, La Porte County, Indiana.1 He was the son of Peter Pence and Susanna Updegraff. William N. Pence married, at age 21, Mary Jane Warren, daughter of Drury Warren and Mary Elizabeth Legg, on Thursday, 5 April 1860 at Hillsboro, Montgomery County, Illinois.1 William N. Pence married, at age 39, Susan Ellen Allison on Thursday, 5 December 1878.1 William N. Pence died on 12 October 1922 at age 83 years, 7 months and 1 day.1 He was buried in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery, located in Neosho, Neosho County, Missouri.1
