Nelson Clinton Waltz was born on 8 February 1920 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Dalton Cameron Waltz and Rosetta Weigle. Nelson Clinton Waltz married, at age 21, Marion Viola Smith, age 19, daughter of Charles Jacob Smith and Rosie Clara Hillyard, on Wednesday, 25 June 1941 at home of Charles J. Smith, Linden, Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Clyde Everett Weigle.2 Nelson Clinton Waltz died on 21 February 2000 at Williamsport Home, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 80 years and 13 days.1,3 He was buried on 24 February 2000 in the Twin Hills Memorial Park, located in Fairfield Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
His obituary was published on 22 February 2000 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Nelson C. Waltz, 80, formerly of Linden, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2000, at the Williamsport Home, after a lengthy illness. He and his wife, the former, Marian V. Smith observed their 58th wedding anniversary June 25.
He retired in 1985 from the Williamsport Area School District after 10 years of service. He was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of the Poor Shot Hunting Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Born in this city Feb. 8, 1920, he was a son of Dalton C. and Rosetta Weigle Waltz.
Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Nancy C. Bean of Cogan Station; a brother, Dale A. of this city; a sister, Gladys M. Kuhns of Montoursville; three grandchildren, Laura A. Hess, William N. and Scott N. Bean; and seven great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, 1427 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. David L. Weaver officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday. The family will provide the flowers. Arrangements are being handled by Knight-Confer's, 1914 Memorial Ave.4
