Marion Viola Smith was born on 13 October 1921 at Linden, Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 She was the daughter of Charles Jacob Smith and Rosie Clara Hillyard. Marion Viola Smith married, at age 19, Nelson Clinton Waltz, age 21, son of Dalton Cameron Waltz and Rosetta Weigle, on Wednesday, 25 June 1941 at home of Charles J. Smith, Linden, Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Clyde Everett Weigle.2 Marion Viola Smith died on 25 September 2006 at Roseview Manor, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 84 years, 11 months and 12 days.1
Her obituary was published on 27 September 2006 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Marian V. Waltz, 84, formerly of Linden, died Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at Rose View Center where she received exceptional love and care.
Marian’s husband, Nelson C. Waltz, died Feb. 21, 2000.
Marian was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and a 1939 graduate of Williamsport High School.
Born Oct. 13, 1921, in Linden, she was a daughter of Charles C. and Rosie C. Hillyard Smith.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy C. (William) Bean of Cogan Station; a brother, Elmer C. (Shirley) Smith of Linden; grandchildren, Laura R. (Robert) Hess, William N. (Karen) and Scott J. (Denise) Bean; and great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Abigail and Molly Hess, Samantha, Andrew, Matthew and Hunter Bean.
Marian was predeceased by her sisters, Mildred Ulmer, Ruth Delong and Dora Marshall.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Knight-Confer’s, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. John F. Rauhut officiating. Burial will be in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday. The family will provide the flowers and suggests donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Central PA Chapter, 55 S. Progress Ave., Harrisburg, PA 17109.1
