William H. Getz was born in August 1863 at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2 He was the son of Daniel Getz and Katharina Kiess.1 William H. Getz married Catherine E. Metzger, daughter of Jacob Metzger and Mary Hyde, in 1888 at Salladasburg, Mifflin Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3,2 William H. Getz died in 1949 at Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 85 years.2 He was buried in the State Road United Methodist Church Cemetery, located in Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2
He appeared on the census of 31 August 1870 in the household of Daniel Getz and Katharina Kiess at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. William H. Getz appeared on the census of 17 June 1880 in the household of Daniel Getz and Katharina Kiess at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The anniversary announcement for William H. Getz and Catherine E. Metzger was published sometime in 1938 in the local paper, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. This announcement stated:
Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Getz, of Salladasburg R. D. 1, recently observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary with a dinner given at their home by their daughter, Mrs. Watson Ulmer and Mr. Ulmer. Married at Salladasburg 50 years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Getz have always lived in the same vicinity. Present at the anniversary celebration besides Mr. and Mrs. Ulmer were a son, Clarence, of Dunellen, NJ, and another son, Lester Getz, and Mrs. Getz, of Jersey Shore, and their grandchildren.4
