D. Lester Getz was born on 30 January 1906 at Salladasburg, Mifflin Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2 He was the son of William H. Getz and Catherine E. Metzger. D. Lester Getz first married Ida May Waltz, daughter of Elias Harvey Waltz and Margaret Matilda Ulmer, circa 1930.3,2 D. Lester Getz married a second time Margaret Ellen Waltz, daughter of Elias Harvey Waltz and Margaret Matilda Ulmer, in 1938 at Cogan Station, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Clarence E. Getz.3 D. Lester Getz died on 2 November 2001 at age 95 years, 9 months and 3 days.1
He was a salesman for an implement company in Lock Haven, Clinton County, Pennsylvania.2 As of 1998, D. Lester Getz lived in Avis, Pine Creek Township, Clinton County, Pennsylvania. His obituary was published on 4 November 2001 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
D. Lester Getz, 95, of 2985 Four Mile Drive, Montoursville, formerly of South Williamsport, died Friday, November 2, 2001, at Outlook Point.
Born January 30, 1906, in Linden, Mr. Getz was a son of William H. and Catherine Metzger Getz. Following the death of his first wife, Ida Waltz in 1935, he married her sister, Margaret, who died in 1976.
Mr. Getz was a farm machinery mechanic with E. D. Myers and Dick Hanna in Lock Haven. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in South Williamsport and the South Williamsport Senior Citizens.
Surviving are a son, Curtis W. Getz of South Williamsport, nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Two daughters, Ruth Ellen Schnars and Margaret Bakunas preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday from Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., with his pastor, the Rev. R. Edward Cope, officiating. Burial will be in State Road Cemetery. Friends may call at Sanders’ from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday. According to the Social Security Administrations Death Index D.'s last known residence was Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
