George L. Gehr was born on 3 February 1917 at Warrensville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3 He was the son of George Franklin Gehr and Anna Belle Calvert.2,1 George L. Gehr married, at age 25, Vinnie M. Bower, age 23, daughter of Edgar Raymond Bower and Flossie B. Loudenslager, on Friday, 6 November 1942 at Warrensville Evangelical United Brethren Church, Warrensville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. George L. Gehr died on 24 July 2012 at Sycamore Manor, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 95 years, 5 months and 21 days.3

George L. Gehr, 95, of 32 Forest Lane, Williamsport, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Sycamore Manor.
He was born Feb. 3, 1917, in Williamsport, a son of George and Annabelle Calvert Gehr.
George was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and retired after 30 years as an equipment operator from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He was a member of the Warrensville United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was predeceased by his wife, the former Vinnie M. Bower, who passed away in 2004 and four brothers, Brady, Stanley, Weldon and Sidney.
George is survived by two sons, Larry L. (Susie) of Trout Run and Jerry L. (Helen) of North Carolina; a daughter, Marcia L. (Jim) Watt of Colorado; and six grandchildren, Greg, Christopher and Timothy Surfield and David, Jeri-Lynn and Nathan Gehr.
Funeral and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Warrensville United Methodist Church, 4570 State Route 87, Williamsport, PA 17701.
