Weldon Jacob Gehr was born on 28 March 1920 at Warrensville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2,1 He was the son of George Franklin Gehr and Anna Belle Calvert.1,3 Weldon Jacob Gehr married, at age 21, Vera Lughart on Monday, 1 December 1941.1 Weldon Jacob Gehr died on 8 May 2002 at 1204 Calvert Road, Trout Run, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 82 years, 1 month and 10 days.2,1
Weldon Jacob Gehr also went by the name of Jake.1 His obituary was published on 10 May 2002 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:
Weldon J. "Jake" Gehr, 82, of 1204 Calvert Road, Trout Run, died Wednesday, May 8, 2002, at his residence. Born March 28, 1920, in Warrensville, he was a son of George and Anna Belle Calvert Gehr.
He retired as a production foreman for the former Carey McFalls. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Jake was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He and his wife, the former Vera Lughart, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Dec. 1, 2001.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are nine children, Robert W. of Columbia, NC, Sandra (Joe) Hebbel of Quakertown, Linda (Mike) Kelly of New Cumberland, Dennis F. of Augusta, GA, Kathy (Skip) Carson of Montoursville, Charles (Lila) of Williamsport, Susan (Bruce) Masters of Newport, VA, Bill (Connie) of York and Kevin J. of Calvert; two brothers, Stanley of Montoursville and George of Warrensville; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two children, Anna Belle and John W. Gehr.
There will be a memorial service Saturday, 2 p.m. at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with Rev. Marie A. Lewis officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home 1-2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Susquehanna Regional Home Health & Hospice, 1001 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701 or the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.1 According to the Social Security Administrations Death Index Weldon's last known residence was Trout Run, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2
