Thelma Elizabeth Gouldy

     Thelma Elizabeth Gouldy was born on 10 March 1916.¹ She was the daughter of James Henry Gouldy and Mary Estella Waltz. Thelma Elizabeth Gouldy married, at age 26, Elmer Raymond Kinley, age 26, son of William Boyd Kinley and Rachel Dora Waltz, on Thursday, 31 December 1942 at Bethel United Presbyterian Church, Bottle Run, Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.¹ Thelma Elizabeth Gouldy died on 26 July 2008 at age 92 years, 4 months and 16 days.

MISS THELMA GOULDY TO MARRY ELMER R. KINKEY

Mr. and Mrs. J. Henry Gouldy, Williamsport, RD 2, announce the engagement of their daughter, Thelma Elizabeth to Elmer R. Kinley, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Kinley, RD 2, Cogan Station.

Miss Gouldy is a graduate of the Williamsport High School and of Miss Wheaton's Commercial College and is at present employed with the U.S. Engineer's at the Pennsylvania Ordnance Works.

Mr. Kinley is employed as a watchmaker at Fink's Auto and Sporting Goods Store.

The wedding will take place in the near future.
As of September 1992, Thelma Elizabeth Gouldy lived at RD #2, Box 340, Cogan Station, Pennsylvania.¹ Her obituary was published on 29 July 2008 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

     Thelma G. Kinley, 92, of 1638 Beauty's Run Road, Cogan Station, died Saturday, July 26, 2008 unexpectedly at the Williamsport Hospital.

     Thelma and her husband, Elmer R. Kinley, were married on Dec. 31, 1942. He died on Jan. 13, 1973.

     Thelma was a 66 year member of the Maple Springs United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school, played the organ and piano, sang in the choir and was a supporter of numerous Christian Missions. Thelma was a 1933 graduate of the Williamsport High School, attended the New York City Business School and graduated from Miss Wheaton's School of Business and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

     In 1948 Thelma and her husband Elmer, opened the E. R. Kinley Jewelry Store in Newberry. She was their bookkeeper for many years. They furnished watches for the first Little League World Series Champions. Thelma retired as Local 787's union secretary. Prior to that she was secretary for the Army Corps of Engineers at the Ordinance and had worked for Clark Mortgage. Thelma had a mighty pen, sending numerous birthday cards, anniversary cards, notes of encouragement, newspaper clippings and had a mind to remember dates and places of events like no other.

     Born March 10, 1916 in Antes Fort, she was the daughter of James Henry and Mary Estelle Waltz Gouldy.

     Surviving are sons, William E. (Nadine) of Williamsport and Gerald R. (Debra) of Cogan Station; a daughter, Judy L. (Anthony) Cerra of Warren; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Thelma was predeceased by a brother Paul K. Gouldy and a sister, Luella Jane McKeag.

     Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Knight-Confer's, 1914 Memorial Avenue with the Rev. Mark R. Messner officiating. Burial will be at Twin Hills Memorial Park. There will be a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family will provide the flowers and suggests contributions be made to the Maple Springs United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 2055 State Route 973 West, Cogan Station, PA 17728 or to the Handi Evangelism, c/o Brian Robinson (her nephew) P. O. Box 122, Akron, OH 17501, which is an Evangelism Camp for Handicapped Children.
