     J. Southgate Y. Hoyt married Sarah Elizabeth Foresman, age 27, daughter of John Hammond Foresman and Julia Emery, on Thursday, 5 March 1942 at Ithaca, Tompkins County, New York.1 J. Southgate Y. Hoyt died on 1 June 1951.2
     Mr. Hoyt received his B.S. from Washington and Lee Universities and his M.S. and PhD from Cornell University.
