Jacob Thomas Schaeffer was born on 15 October 1859 at Blooming Grove, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 He was the son of Frederick Schäffer and Dorothea Heim. Jacob Thomas Schaeffer was baptized, at age 16 years, in 1876 at German Baptist Church, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He married, at age 21, Sarah Elizabeth Ulmer, age 22, daughter of Leonard Ulmer III and Margaretha Mutchler, on Thursday, 16 June 1881.2 Jacob Thomas Schaeffer died on 19 February 1895 at Yankton County, South Dakota, at age 35 years, 4 months and 4 days.3 He was buried in the Blooming Grove Cemetery, located in Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2
