Joseph Updegraff was born circa 1798 at Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Martin Updegraff and Mary Dunn. Joseph Updegraff married Mary Currigan, daughter of Robert Currigan, on Friday, 25 November 1825 at Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 Joseph Updegraff died on 11 August 1839 at Shelby County, Indiana.
