Derrick K. Updegraff

M, (1814 - 12 May 1887)
     Derrick K. Updegraff was born in 1814.1 He was the son of Samuel Updegraff and Sarah Shaeffer. Derrick K. Updegraff has also been reported to have been born 1816. He married Margaret Bennet circa 1839.2 Derrick K. Updegraff died on 12 May 1887 at Long Reach, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 73 years.3 He has also been reported to have died 11 May 1887. He was buried in the Wildwood Cemetery, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3
     He and his family resided at Long Reach, the family homestead in Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Derrick was a County Commissioner when the Williamsport Jail was erected. He was a supervisor of the canal a number of years when it was owned by the State.

He left a will - Will Book 6, page 404, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, made on Sept. 1, 1885, filled and registered on Nov. 1, 1889. He and Margaret Bennet appeared on the census of 1 August 1860 at Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Derrick K. Updegraff appeared on the census of 19 July 1870 in the household of David Watson Foresman and Margaret Simmons McCormick at Williamsport, 7th Ward, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Derrick K. Updegraff and Margaret Bennet appeared on the census of 9 June 1880 at Williamsport, 7th Ward, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
