     Emma Catherine Updegraff was born on 7 February 1843 at Long Reach, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 She was the daughter of Derrick K. Updegraff and Margaret Bennet. Emma Catherine Updegraff married Joseph M. Fessler, son of Fred Fessler and Elizabeth Strayer, circa 1861.2 Emma Catherine Updegraff died on 14 December 1920 at Newberry, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 77 years, 10 months and 7 days.1
     She appeared on the census of 1 August 1860 in the household of Derrick K. Updegraff and Margaret Bennet at Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
