Robert Ellis Waltz was born on 31 December 1927 at Cogan Station, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Ellis Thompson Waltz and Kathryn Viola Mahaffey.1 Robert Ellis Waltz married, at age 22, Janet Louise Nunn on Saturday, 18 November 1950 at Hepburnville, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Robert Ellis Waltz married, at age 42, Jean L. Russ, age 43, daughter of Verus Henry Russ and Wanda M. Voneida, on Sunday, 13 December 1970.

Tuesday, December 7, 1971 - CATTLE BARN DESTROYED IN BLAZE
HEPBURNVILLE - Fire late this morning destroyed a cattle barn on the Robert E. Waltz farm, about five miles north of Williamsport in Lycoming Twp. Damage was placed between $7,000 and $10,000.
Firemen said the blaze broke out about 11 a.m. as Waltz was attempting to jump-start a tractor. The jeep being used to start the tractor backfired, fireman said, and the vehicle burst into flames. It set fire to the interior of the frame buildng, destroying the jeep, 30 tons of straw, a quantity of tools along with the barn.
Fireman were able to lead the animals from the burning building before the roof collapsed and the building went up in flames. The blaze had gained such headway by the fireman arrived that all they could do was to keep the fire from spreading.
Waltz said loss to the barn, on his farm near Hepburnville, is partially covered by insurance.
Both the Hepburn Twp. Volunteer Fire Co. and the Old Lycoming Twp. Volunteer Fire Co. sent men and apparatus to the scene. As of 1973, Robert Ellis Waltz lived at RD #2, Cogan Station, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1
