Pierce Albert Stabler1

     Pierce Albert Stabler was born on 23 May 1871 at farm of Abraham Stabler, Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2,1 He was the son of Abraham Stabler and Margaretha Anna Rhote. Pierce Albert Stabler was baptized at Anthony Baptist Church, Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He married, at age 24, Mary Elizabeth Ulmer, age 22, daughter of John Ulmer and Christina Foltz, on Tuesday, 24 December 1895 at Quiggleville, Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Pierce Albert Stabler died on 9 April 1941 at farm of Pierce Albert Stabler, Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 69 years, 10 months and 17 days.2,1 He was buried on 12 April 1941 in the Salladasburg Cemetery, located in Salladasburg, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Benjamin Griffin Hoffman.1
     Pierce Albert Stabler died of a heart attack suffered in the barn in one of the horse stalls while doing morning chores. Fred had left to go in for breakfast and Pierce was to follow shortly, upon waiting and Pierce not coming Fred went back to the barn to find his father dead next to one of their horses. He was buried at 2:30PM on the Saturday following his death, with services held at St. John's Evangelical United Brethren Chapel located in Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. He was a democrat in politics and an avid hunter. He was also an active member of St. John's Chapel Evangelical Church. Pierce Albert Stabler was was a dairy farmer and also did some work as a bark stripper of hemlock trees for the tannery in Newberry, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania between 1890 and 1940.

This Bible originally belonged to Abraham Stabler (1845-1923) being handed down on his death to his son Pierce Albert Stabler (1871-1941) and remained in the Stabler household until his death. At this time his son Frederick Ulmer Stabler (1907-2005) owned the Bible until the time of his death at which time it passed to his son Daniel Leroy Stabler.
