     Elizabeth Hulda Heim was born on 13 August 1911 at Blooming Grove, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3 She was the daughter of Ira Fernando Heim and Mary Sabina Ulmer.3 Elizabeth Hulda Heim married, at age 23, Karl Joseph Ely, age 27, son of John W. Ely and Mary J. Eddy, on Saturday, 1 June 1935 at Hepburn Baptist Church, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.3 Elizabeth Hulda Heim died on 21 May 2002 at Williamsport Hospital, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 90 years, 9 months and 8 days.2,3 She was buried on 28 May 2002 in the Blooming Grove Cemetery, located in Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Mark Mahserjian-Smith.3
     Her obituary was published on 23 May 2002 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

     Elizabeth H. Ely, 90, of Williamsport Home apartments, formerly of Cogan Station, died on Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at the Williamsport Hospital. Born Aug. 13, 1911, in Hepburn Township, she was the daughter of Ira F. and Sabina Ulmer Heim.

She graduated from Williamsport High School in 1930 and from Lock Haven State Normal School, now Lock Haven University, in 1932. She began her teaching career at various one-room schools in Lycoming County and retired in 1973 from the Hepburn-Lycoming Elementary School.

She was married to Karl J. Ely, Sr., for 60 years, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 19, 1995.

Mrs. Ely was a lifelong member of the Hepburn Baptist Church, where she was also active in the American Baptist Women s Organization. Until a few years ago, she was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hepburn Township Fire Dept. and was a charter member of the Auxiliary. She was also active in the Blooming Grove Historical Society both at the Blooming Grove museum and at the Dunkard church, which were both founded by her ancestors. Other memberships for Elizabeth included the Lycoming County Historical Society, the Pennsylvania State Retired Teachers Association and Alpha Sigma Tau sorority.

Elizabeth is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Barbara and her husband Walter Fullmer of Cogan Station; two sons, Karl and his wife Virginia of Clermont, FL, and Richard and his wife Brenda of San Jose, CA. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Michele Lynn Fullmer of Williamsport and Trevor Joseph Ely of San Jose, CA, four step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren as well as a brother, Thomas Heim of Indianapolis, IN.

She was predeceased by a brother, Rev. David J. Heim of Burlington, VT, on Oct. 13, 1991, and a sister, Winifred Heim Shaheen of Selinsgrove on Feb. 10, 2002.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at the church, 2917 Pleasant Valley Road, with Rev. Mark Mahserjian-Smith officiating. Burial will be in Blooming Grove Cemetery. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Monday at Knight-Confer s, 1914 Memorial Ave. and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Hepburn Baptist Church Memorial Fund, the Blooming Grove Historical Society or the Blooming Grove Cemetery Assoc.3
