Martin Eugene Updegraff was born on 17 April 1840 at Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana.1 He was the son of Derrick Updegraff and Orpha Ann Stubbs. Martin Eugene Updegraff married, at age 37, Clara Belle Collingwood, age 17, daughter of Daniel Collingwood and Mary [—?—], on Wednesday, 30 May 1877 at Pretty Prairie, Reno County, Kansas.1 Martin Eugene Updegraff died on 25 March 1932 at Greensburg, Kiowa County, Kansas, at age 91 years, 11 months and 8 days.1
He Martin was a stagecoach driver between Hutchinson and Medicine Lodge, KS and resided in Pretty Prairie until he moved to Medicine Lodge in 1879. He is listed as M.E. Updegraff in the 1880 Census - Kingman, Kingman County, KS. He was Stagecoach Driver.
