Dora Eleanor Smith was born on 30 November 1929 at Linden, Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Charles Jacob Smith and Rosie Clara Hillyard. Dora Eleanor Smith married, at age 20, Jackson Clifford Marshall, age 28, son of Clifford Delos Marshall and Bessie H. Greenaway, on Friday, 30 June 1950. Dora Eleanor Smith died on 21 September 2005 at Manor Care Health Center, Jersey Shore, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 75 years, 9 months and 22 days.
Her obituary was published on 22 September 2005 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Dora E. Marshall, 75, of Linden, died Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, in Jersey Shore Manor Care.
She was born Nov. 30, 1929, in Woodward Township, the daughter of Charles J. and Rosie Hillyard Smith.
Dora and her late husband, Jackson C. Marshall who died in 1986, operated a farm in the Salladasburg area for 25 years.
She attended Pine Run United Methodist Church. Dora enjoyed fishing and collecting cookbooks.
She is survived by a daughter, Sherry Marshall of Linden; a brother, Elmer C. Smith of Linden; and a sister, Marian Waltz of Williamsport. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth DeLong and Mildred Ulmer.
A celebration of Dora’s life will begin with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday and services will follow at 11 a.m. at the Rearick-Carpenter Funeral Home Ltd. “A Life Celebration Home,” 1002 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore.
Interment will be in Woodward Township Cemetery.
The family will provide the flowers.
