     Phillip Arthur Updegraff was born on 9 May 1906 at Alpena, Alpena County, Michigan.1 He was the son of Martin George Updegraff and Gertrude Elizabeth Cole. Phillip Arthur Updegraff married, at age 34, Ellen Marie Dailey, age 32, daughter of Thomas B. Dailey and Gussie N. James, on Monday, 16 September 1940 at Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio.2 Phillip Arthur Updegraff died on 1 June 1980 at age 74 years and 23 days.1
