George Stolz was born on 20 October 1814 at Württemberg. He was the son of David Stolz and Sophia Orich. George Stolz first married, at age 20, Maria Aderhold, daughter of Abraham Aderhold and Catharine Weisel, in April 1835 at Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. George Stolz married Elisabeth Betz in 1858 at Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. George Stolz died on 26 February 1888 at Muncy Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 73 years, 4 months and 6 days.1
He was the owner of a mill and grocery in at Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.

George Stolz was born in Germany and emigrated to America in 1817 with his parents, who located for a while on a farm near Philadelphia. George Stolz came to Lycoming County, cleared a farm from the woods, and in 1856 he located in Muncy and was engaged in farming and operating a grist mill. From 1858 until his death he carried on a grocery business in Muncy, built a sawmill in 1859, and engaged in the lumber business. George Stolz was a very successful businessman, and while not a member, he contributed to the support of the Lutheran church. He was a Democrat until after the election of James Buchanan to the presidency, when he became a Republican. He served in the Muncy borough council, and was a director in the First National and Citizens' Banks of Muncy.2
