Frederick Foltz

     Frederick Foltz was born on 7 March 1847 at Württemberg.1 He was the son of Frederick Foltz and Rosanna Goodecuntz. Frederick Foltz married, at age 26, Margaret Carolina Waltz, age 23, daughter of Wilhelm Waltz and Maria Elizabeth Hurr, on Thursday, 7 August 1873.2 Frederick Foltz died on 23 February 1929 at Oklahoma at age 81 years, 11 months and 16 days.1
     Fredreick Foltz had come to Lancaster Co., PA in 1854 from a small town in Stuttgart, Wurtemberg, when he was 7 years old and then moved with his family to Lycoming Co, PA on the west branch of the Susquehananh River in 1857 and settled in Cogan Station, PA where he grew up. Sometime after their son William was born in April 1878, Frederick and Caroline Waltz Foltz moved westward settling in Nebraska where he was a farmer. A few years after the establishment of Oklahoma Territory in 1880, Frederick and his five children moved to the capital town of Guthrie, Oklahoma in 1883, some six years before the 'Boomer' rush of April 22, 1889 and ten years before the famed Cherokee Run of September, 16, 1893. After Carolines death Frederick continued to live in Guthrie where daughter Flora lived and son Charlie worked in the Post Office. In later years Frederick split his time visiting with son Harry in Butler, Oklahoma and son Willilam and family in Muskogee.
