Walter E. Bower was born on 5 February 1910 at Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1,2,3 He was the son of George J. Bower and Laura E. Kinley. Walter E. Bower married, at age 21, Laura Weigle Dunkleberger, age 18, daughter of Carl Dunkleberger and Alice Grimes, on Tuesday, 2 June 1931 at Lycoming Presbyterian Church Parsonage, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend Halbert Jacobs. Walter E. Bower died on 4 October 1966 at Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 56 years, 7 months and 29 days.1,2,3 He was buried on 7 October 1966 in the State Road United Methodist Church Cemetery, located in Lycoming Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2

FARM TRACTOR OVERTURNS, MAN FATALLY HURT
Walter E. Bower, 56, of Cogan Station RD 2, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Williamsport Hospital at 11:50 a.m. today, Tuesday, October 4, 1966, following a farm tractor accident.
Mr. Bower, a life-long farmer, died under his farm tractor where he was pinned from shortly after 11 until a wrecker arrived and hoisted it off him.
He was taken to the hospital in the Old Lycoming Township Fire Company ambulance.
Reports indicate that Mr. Bower was on a side hill on his farm along Beauty's Run Road when the machine overturned, pinning him under it. The tractor was pulling a spreader.
Dr. Earl. miller, coroner, is investigating the accident.4

FUNERAL
BOWER - The funeral for Walter E. Bower, who was fatally injured yesterday when he was pinned under a tractor on his farm at Cogan Station RD 2, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Knight's, 1912 Memorial Avenue. His pastor, the Rev. Herbert S. Entz, will officiate. Burial will be in the State Road Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Dr. Earl R. Miller, coroner, said death was caused by a crushed chest. He ruled that the death was accidental and no inquest will be held.
Born February 5, 1910, in Old Lycoming Township, Mr. Bower was the son of George and Laura Kinley Bower. He had been a farmer in the Cogan Station area all his life.
He was a member of Maple Springs Evangical United Brethren Church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Laura Weigle; a son, Robert E., of Cogan Station RD 2; three brothers, Samuel, of Linden RD 1, Paul, of Williamsport RD 2, and Phillip C., this city, and one grandson.3
