Hazel Hubler1

     Hazel Hubler was born on 3 June 1925 at Clearfield, Lawrence Township, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.2 She was the daughter of Grover Hubler and Florence Passmore.2 Hazel Hubler married Kenneth L. Kurtz, son of Harry Leroy Kurtz and Irene Maud Farber, circa 1947.3,2 Hazel Hubler died on 30 July 2012 at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 87 years, 1 month and 27 days.2 She was buried on 2 August 2012 in the Wildwood Cemetery, located in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2
     The former Hazel Hubler was listed in Kenneth L. Kurtz's obituary on 10 December 2002 in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, as his wife.4 Her obituary was published on 31 July 2012 Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:

     Hazel H. Kurtz, 87, of Williamsport, died Monday, July 30, 2012, at her home.

     Born June 3, 1925, in Clearfield, she was a daughter of the late Grover and Florence (Passmore) Hubler.

     Hazel graduated from Williamsport High School. She worked for Piper Cub in Lock Haven, at a munitions factory in New York City, Sylvania in Montoursville, delivered papers for the Sun-Gazette and retired from Cobbler Shoes. She enjoyed painting, baseball and was a Penn State football fan.

     She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (James) Messner of Cogan Station and Nancy (Fred) Michel of Swan Lake, N.Y; five grandchildren, Carrie Hansen, Rhonda Martin, Michael Kurtz, Ryan Michel and Mark Michel; five great-grandchildren; aunt, Lois Wennin of Emporium; and daughter-in-law, Susan Kurtz.

     Hazel was preceded in death by her son, David Kurtz; granddaughter, Kathy Messner; three brothers, Charles Hubler, Sherman Hubler and Raymond Hubler; and two sisters, Catherine San Flippio and Genevive Van Atta.

     A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be held at Wildwood Cemetery.
