     Sophia Kiess was born on 3 September 1816 at Blooming Grove, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2 She was the daughter of Christopher Kiess and Christina Sheets. Sophia Kiess married George Rote circa 1840.1 Sophia Kiess died in December 1899 at Niles Township, Floyd County, Iowa, at age 83 years and 2 months.2
