Wilson Kiess was born on 3 December 1874 at Anthony Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.2,3 He was the son of Andrew J. Kiess and Sarah Jane Kress.4 Wilson Kiess married Joanna Pepperman, daughter of William Baird Pepperman and Susan Catherine Zonchler, circa 1895.5 Wilson Kiess died on 16 September 1957 at 2605 Grand Street, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 82 years, 9 months and 13 days.6 He was buried on 19 September 1957 in the Woodward Township Cemetery, located in Woodward Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. The funeral service was officiated by Reverend Jerome F. Diehl and Reverend Watson E. Grove.7
Wilson Kiess was employed by Goldy Lumber Company. As of 1956, Wilson Kiess lived at Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.8 His obituary was published sometime in September 1957 in the local paper, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. His obituary stated:

Wilson Kiess, 82, of 2605 Grand Street, who died Monday, September 16, 1957, at his home, was a veteran in Boy Scout work in his community. In 1950 he received Scouting's highest honor, the Silver Beaver award in recognition of his services. He had been active in Scout work for 30 years. At the time of his death he was institutional representative of Troop 14, St. John's Evangelical United Brethren Church, chairman of the troop committee of the Central District, and a member of the Order of the Arrow. Mr. Kiess was active in the program of his church. He was a member of its board of trustees for many years and was adult superintendent of the Sunday School.
He was born in Anthony Twp., on December 3, 1874, son of the late Andrew J. and Sarah Kress Kiess. Mr. Kiess was a retired employee of the Goldy Lumber Co. He is survived by a brother, Asher, of Garden View.
Services will be at Sanders, 821 Diamond Street, at 2pm Thursday, with Rev. Jerome F. Diehl, pastor of St. John's Evangelical United Brethren Church, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. Watson E. Grove, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Enola. Burial will be in Emory Cemetery.8
