Mary Grier Cope was born on 17 July 1855 at Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania.1 She was the daughter of John Edmond Cope and Helen Taylor Merrick. Mary Grier Cope first married Algernon Morton circa 1877. Mary Grier Cope married a second time Abraham Howard Ritter, son of Abraham Ritter and Rebecca Knapp Potter, in 1886 at Saint Mark's Episcopal Church, Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. Mary Grier Cope died on 27 October 1916 at age 61 years, 3 months and 10 days.1 She was buried in the Church of the Redeemer Cemetery, located in Bryn Mawr, Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.1
