Dorothy L. Witwer was born on 9 December 1914 at Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio.2,1 She was the daughter of Ralph Witwer and Grace [—?—].2 Dorothy L. Witwer married Donald Billman Stabler, son of George William Stabler and Etta Mae Billman, in 1952.2 Dorothy L. Witwer died on 22 February 2005 at Bal Harbour, Miami-Dade County, Florida, at age 90 years, 2 months and 13 days.2,1 She was buried on 25 February 2005 in the East Harrisburg Cemetery, Stabler Mausoleum, located in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.2
Her obituary was published on 24 February 2005 in the Dayton Daily News, printed in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio. Her obituary stated:
STABLER, Dorothy L. 90, of Harrisburg, died Tuesday February 22, 2005 at her home in Bal Harbour, Florida. Born on December 9, 1914 in Dayton, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ralph and Grace Witwer. She married Donald B. Stabler in 1952 and upon his death in December 1997, accepted the position of Vice President and Director of Stabler Companies Inc. and its wholly-owned subsidiaries.
She was also a Trustee of the Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation, and served on the Board of Trustees of Messiah College, Harrisburg Area Community College Foundation, and Woods Services in Langhorne, PA. In 1995, Susquehanna University honored her with a Doctor of Humane Letters degree. In the Miami area, she chaired the Opera Guild from 1978-1983, was a member of the Theatre Arts League, and was a past member of the Board of Governors of The Surf Club. She was past matron of the Masonic Order of Eastern Star of Ohio (Tippecanoe Chapter #307) from 1944-45, as well as a member and Past Regent of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Anne Stabler of Rockwood, TN; two sisters, Virginia Laing of Glendale, CA and Marguerite Bowers of Dayton, OH; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held on Friday at 9:00 a.m. at Faith Presbyterian Church, 1801 Colonial Road, Harrisburg, with funeral services at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be immediately following in the family mausoleum at East Harrisburg Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by David M. Myers Funeral Home in Newport, PA. Anyone wishing to make a memorial contribution may do so to the charity of, their choice.2 According to the Social Security Administrations Death Index Dorothy's last known residence was Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.1
