Donald Billman Stabler

     Donald Billman Stabler was born on 23 December 1908. He was the son of George William Stabler and Etta Mae Billman. Donald Billman Stabler first married, at age 25, Catherine Mae Heuther, daughter of Robert Heuther, on Thursday, 22 November 1934 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Bethlehem, Northampton County, Pennsylvania, by the Reverend Benjamin Lotz.1 Donald Billman Stabler and Catherine Mae Heuther were divorced in 1945. Donald Billman Stabler married a second time Dorothy L. Witwer, daughter of Ralph Witwer and Grace [—?—], in 1952.2 Donald Billman Stabler died on 30 December 1997 at Miami Heart Institute, Bal Harbour, Miami-Dade County, Florida, at age 89 years and 7 days.3,2 He was buried on 6 January 1998 in the East Harrisburg Cemetery, located in Harrisburg, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania.3
     He was CEO Stabler Companies. He Don has a Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, after which he stated working for Muma in 1932 for $15.00 per week. In 1940 he started his own road construction company and is currently the head of 12 separate companies and about 16,000 employee. He is a loyal Republican.

Donald B. Stabler, president of Stabler Companies Inc., has been given the 'Rebuilding America' award by CIT Corp. of New Jersey. The award recognizes individuals who work to inform people about deteriorating conditions of the nation's roads, brdges, water systems and public facilities.

Donald B. Stabler, 89, of Harrisburg, a Williamsport native, died Tuesday, December 30, 1997, at the Miami Heart Institute, Bal Harbour, FL. He and his wife, the former Dorothy L. Witwer, observed their 45th wedding anniversary August 10, 1997. He was chairman and chief executive officer of Stabler Companies Inc. and its associated companies. A graduate of Lehigh University, his career in highway construction began in 1940. Under his leadership, Stabler Companies Inc. grew to 11 corporation with more than 1,200 employees. A philanthropist, the Donald B. and Dorothy L. Stabler Foundation was established to benefit educational, religious and other charitable causes. He was born December 23, 1908. Surviving, besides his wife, are a daughter, Beverly Anne Stabler of Rockwood, TN and a sister, Peggy Harper of Englewood, CO. The funeral will be at Faith Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg, PA. Interment will be in the family mausoleum at East Harrisburg Cemetery. Donald Billman Stabler lived at.
