In 1758, a Jseph Updegraff applied to the court, as guardian for Samuel, for an apprenticeship for Samuel, aged 14 years.
This could be the Samuel that was found on the 1779 tax list for York County, PA as a breechmaker? And could he also be the Samuel in the 1790 Census - York County, PA? And from Western PA General Society Volume 9 #4, page 198 - May 1983: Non-reidents mentioned in Washington County, PA. Deeds before 1800 excluding adjacent counties: Samuel Updegraff of York County, PA from Joseph Scott of Washington, PA - D.B. C, page 124R - 1786 - for land in Robinson Township. And there is a Samuel on the 1783 Tax List York County, PA - a labelmaker.
