Samuel Morrison

     Samuel Morrison was born on 23 June 1762 at Chester, Lancaster County, Province of Pennsylvania, America.1 He was the son of William Morrison and Patience Brown. Samuel Morrison married, at age 26, Mary Magdalene Ann Updegraff, age 25, daughter of Derrick Updegraff and Susan Stricker, on Thursday, 5 March 1789.1 Samuel Morrison died on 10 February 1812 at Somerset County, Pennsylvania, at age 49 years, 7 months and 18 days.1 He was buried in the Samuels Churchyard, located in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
     This family located in Milford Township, Bedford County, PA, where they purchased land in 1793, then in April of 1795 it became Somerset County, PA. They both came from York County, PA, where the Morrison family resided in Warrington Township. Mry Ann was admonished in the Quaker Meeting Records for marrying before a Justice of the Peace. The NSDAR Patriot Index - Volume 3 shows Samuel Morrison as a Private from Somerset County, PA.
