George Updegraff

     George Updegraff was born on 10 July 1780 at York County, Province of Pennsylvania, America.1 He was the son of Derrick Updegraff and Susan Stricker. George Updegraff married Elizabeth [—?—] circa 1801 at Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.1 George Updegraff died between 21 May 1834 and 1851 at Boggstown, Shelby County, Indiana.1 He was buried in the Old Union Methodist Cemetery, located in Shelby County, Indiana.1
     He George inherited from his father a tract of land that had been purchased from Fred Row, now the Claver farm at Level Corners, Lycoming County, PA, which George later sold when he was preparing to move to Indiana. His family is listed in the 1800 / 1810 / 1820 census records for Lycoming Twp., Lycoming Co., PA. Then sometime after 1820, George with his family and his brother Martin and their family moved to Sugar Creek Twp., Shelby Co., Indiana.
