William DeHaven

William DeHaven was born on 18 July 1811 at Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Jacob DeHaven and Catherine Hartman. William DeHaven married Sarah Glotfelty in 1832. William DeHaven died in 1895 at Addison Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, at age 83 years. He was buried Addison Township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
He owned a farm and an inn beside the National Pike near Grantsville, Maryland From 1844 to 1865. The book, "Garrett County - A History of Maryland's Tableland" says "Thomas Thistle kept a tavern as early as 1836 at the eastern foot of Negro Mountain, two miles west of Grantsville, at Braddock Trail. William DeHaven operated the Thistle Tavern in 1844 and later turned it over to Levi Dean." He moved back to Addison Township in Somerset County.
