Bertha E. Fry was born on 21 September 1906 at Montoursville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Frederick G. Fry and Clara A. Bordy.3 Bertha E. Fry married, at age 22, George Frederick Springman, age 19, son of Solomon Springman and Alma May Stabler, on Tuesday, 23 October 1928.1,2 Bertha E. Fry died on 7 July 2001 at Valley View Nursing Center, Montoursville, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, at age 94 years, 9 months and 16 days. She was buried on 14 July 2001 in the Saint James Lutheran Church Cemetery, located in Fairfield Township, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
Her obituary was published on in the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, printed in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania. Her obituary stated:
Bertha E. Springman, 94, formerly of Cypress St., Montoursville, died Saturday, July 7, 2001 at Valley View Nursing Center where she had resided since 1995.
Born September 21, 1906 in Montoursville, she was the daughter of Fred P. and Clara Bordy Fry.
Bertha was the widow of G. Frederick Springman who died January 4, 1996. She was a member of the Lycoming Valley Baptist Church, Montoursville.
She is survived by two sons; Marvin F. of Williamsport and Arnold E. of Montoursville; a daughter, Esther S. Lauchle of Pennsdale; 9 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday, 10 a.m. at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with her pastor, Rev. Derrrick Neill officiating. Burial will be in the St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery, Fairfield Twp. Friends may call at the funeral home, Saturday 9:30 to 10 a.m.
