Howard Richard Metzger was born on 14 October 1898.1 He was the son of Jeremiah Matthew Metzger and Alice Catherine Hetner. Howard Richard Metzger married Jessie Pearl Blair circa 1918.

Howard Richard Metzger was the fourth son of Alice and Jeremiah Metzger. He married Jessie Pearl Metzger and they bought a farm from Richard and Becky Bower, near the State Road Church, located at the end of Howard's brother Verus's driveway to his farm. They had one son, Carl L. Metzger. Later Howard, Jessie, and Carl moved to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, where Howard worked for Western Electric, installing light plants. Howard installed a light plant at the Mansion Farm and also invented a way to have a sound proof light plant at the 'Bush Meetings' that were held In the Metzger grove during every summer. He remodeled the grainery at the Mansion Farm and did various carpentry repairs for his father and brothers. He later established a carpentry business that he passed on to his son Carl and grandson Thomas. His wife Jessie now lives at the Leader Home in Williamsport. Howard and his son Carl enjoyed hunting and came many hunting seasons to the Mansion Farm to enjoy this sport. Howard enjoyed bringing his grandson and granddaughter to visit the farm. Later in life when his eye sight was failing, Sandy would be his eyes and Howard would drive the car. Carl L. Metzger married Louise Dettling Metzger and they lived many happy years in an apartment over his father-in-law's garage, where he and Howard stored their carpentry tools. Carl and his son Thomas continued the carpentry business after Howard's death and built many fine homes In the Montoursville area and the house that Louise and their family live in today on Louisa Street in Williamsport. Carl and Louise had five children, Thomas, Sandra, Richard, Dennis, and Scott. Until the time of Carl's death he was very interested in the history of the Metzger family and now hi's sons Richard and Scott have taken on that same interest.
Carl and Louise Metzger's first son, Thomas lives in Montoursville, Pennsylvania where he is a policeman. Thomas has two children, Greg Steven and Lisa Renee. Greg serves our country in the Armed Forces. Sandra Faye Metzger is married to Thomas P. Cohick and they have two children, Curt and Corine. They live in a beautiful house in the woods near the 'Bush Meeting' grove on Mansion Farm. As a little girl Sandy-;came to the country to visit her cousins and enjoyed playing with the cats under the big snow ball tree, and going sled riding in the winter. Richard, Carl and Louise Metzger's second son served his country in the Armed Forces and now lives in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.' Dennis Metzger also lives in Williamsport and he has a son named Jason. Scott is the youngest son of Carl and Louise and recently graduated from college and lives with his' mother Louise.1
